Education & Transition

Keeping children learning through the critical move from primary to secondary school and on into skills and work.

The challenge

Many learners leave school at transition points: when they move from primary to junior secondary, or when they finish school with no clear route into skills or work. Girls, children with disabilities and children in crisis-affected areas are the most at risk.

What we do

  • Identify learners at risk of dropping out and provide targeted catch-up and mentoring support.
  • Work with schools, parents and communities to remove barriers to transition, including cost, distance and safety.
  • Connect older learners to skills, apprenticeships and further education.

Outcomes we work towards

  • Higher transition rates from primary to secondary
  • Improved foundational learning outcomes
  • More girls and children with disabilities staying in school
