Rooted in Africa… Driven by Impact

Impact Foundation for Inclusive Sustainable Development (I-FISD) is an African development organisation working with communities, governments, development partners and researchers to advance inclusive and sustainable development. We design, deliver and learn from evidence-informed programmes across five thematic areas: education and skills; livelihoods and agriculture; health, gender equality and social inclusion; climate, energy and resilience; and institutional and community development.

Founded in Abuja, Nigeria, in September 2026, I-FISD is grounded in a simple principle: development is more sustainable when communities shape the solutions that affect their lives, and when evidence informs what works. We combine locally grounded implementation with partnerships, innovation and rigorous Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) to strengthen programmes, generate evidence and contribute to better policy and practice.

Our work begins in Nigeria, with a growing network of communities, public institutions, development partners and research organisations. Our ambition, however, is continental: to contribute to a resilient, inclusive and sustainable Africa where every community has the opportunity to thrive.

I-FISD is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria (RC 9844472).

Our mission

To advance inclusive and sustainable development across Africa through community-led action, innovation, partnerships and evidence-based solutions.

Our vision

A resilient, inclusive and sustainable Africa where every community has the opportunity to thrive.

Our values

  • Inclusion & Equity

We promote equal opportunity, amplify underrepresented voices, and design solutions that reach those most often left behind.

  • Evidence & Learning

We use evidence to guide our decisions, learn from experience, and share what works to strengthen development practice.

  • Integrity & Accountability

We act with honesty, transparency and responsibility, and remain accountable for our decisions, resources and results.

  • Partnership & Collaboration

We work across communities, institutions and sectors, recognising that lasting change is achieved through collective action.

  • Local Leadership

We support communities and local institutions to lead decisions, shape solutions and drive the development outcomes that matter to them.

  • Sustainability & Resilience

We advance solutions that endure, strengthen resilience and create lasting social, economic and environmental value.

How we work

Our approach explains how we work, not only what we do. Six principles guide every programme.

See how this shapes our five thematic areas
  1. Community-led development

Communities define priorities, take part in design and hold us to account for results.

  2. Evidence-based programming

Every programme has a theory of change, a baseline and a learning agenda. Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL) runs through all our work.

  3. Partnerships

We work with government, development partners, researchers and community organisations, aligning with national and state plans.

  4. Inclusion

Gender equality, disability inclusion and youth participation are built into design, budgets and data, not added later.

  5. Sustainability

We plan for exit from day one, strengthening local institutions to carry the work forward.

  6. Innovation

We test new approaches and appropriate technology, and scale what the evidence supports.
