Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people with disabilities and people on slow or expensive mobile connections.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we have done

  • All text and interactive colours meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (for example body text 12.7:1 and links 5.3:1 on our cream background).
  • The whole site can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link.
  • Menus, filters, tabs and forms are labelled for screen readers. Form errors are announced and summarised.
  • Core content, navigation and the Where We Work map work without JavaScript. The map has a text alternative.
  • Animations respect your device's "reduce motion" setting.
  • Pages are kept light (most under 500 KB) for low-bandwidth connections.

Known limitations

  • Some older PDF publications may not be fully accessible. Ask us for an accessible version and we will provide one.
  • Site search requires JavaScript. The sitemap is an alternative.
